Earl 'Steffa' Moran (1893 - 1984)
Moran originally worked in pastels, and created all his earlier works using this medium, though his images were not initially the risqué artworks that other pinup artists often produced. Moran's most famous model was Marilyn Monroe, somebody he painted on a regular basis. From the 50's, he had begun painting nudes, and also changed from using pastels to Oils. He stayed with the oil and nudes approach until his death in 1984 One of the nice touches to Moran's work is the signature he most often used. So many times you see artwork from other artists with an almost coded figure or sqiggle representing the artist name, Moran's signature was the opposite, being clear and concise. The only time when a Moran girl isn't so obvious, is when he signed them Steffa, something he was known to do on occasion.
