T.N. Thompson (aka Jerry thompson) Another artist from the Brown and Bigelow stable. Thompson painted both illustration boards and canvas. Despite the name being shown as T.N. Thompson, his name is actually Jerry Thompson. He took a position with Earl Macpherson at Brown and Bigelow around 1948 in order to improve his pinup work, whilst in this position, Macpherson was taken ill with polio in 1951 and left the newcomer to paint the annual Macpherson sketch pad, during which time he also created a similar calendar for the John Baumgarth Company. Unlike others in the Pinup painting world at the time, he was known to combine different materials to his works, Graphite, Pastel and Charcoal to name three, and often mixing these into the same painting. A further point of note is the fact that many of his works are in fact unsigned, conservative estimates put this at the 50 percent mark. Not an ideal situation for those trying to find his works so many years on.
